Local Color Posters

Most of the posters in this gallery were created and produced for Local Color Gallery in Buffalo, New York. They were made because I have always been inspired by great poster art. Original poster artists like Toulouse-Lautrec, Japanese print and poster artists, psychedelic rock & roll poster artists, Pop poster artists and many of the past and present anti-war and social message poster artists, are my heroes. Milton Glaser, Seymour Chwast, Jean-Michel Folon and other graphic artists made an impression on me as I began to wend my way along this path. Their serious humor and design skills have made a difference on the way we all think and see. I make these posters because I like the process of making posters and think of the format as a canvas for aesthetic design as well as information. I like to work in the 13×19 inch broadside size, because it works well with the images. It is what I think of as a cross between print and poster. The posters are printed on matte, heavyweight paper and signed in pencil. Scroll down to see more prints and click on images for a closer look.
